This girl has her ducks in a row!
This is a concept I am completely unfamiliar with. I wonder what that’s like and how it is done.
Recently a friend and I were admiring her sister’s ability to do all the things and keep it completely together. She is involved in everything, her kids are young and involved in everything, and she works full time. And while many would say, yeah right, she just appears to have it all together, I happen to know that she actually does. So why is that? What does she do differently than I do? Note: I am the comparison in this scenario, because let me tell you, this ranch mama does not have it all together.
This is my conclusion, and while I take full credit for identification, I take zero credit for implementation. I’m going to proceed with the assumption that if I did implement these strategies in my life, I would also have my ducks in a row.
Having your ducks in a row requires two things: 1) planning/preparation; and 2) systems. For example, if you have a system in place for sending out birthday cards at the beginning of each month, you never miss a birthday. If you start planning for Christmas shopping in September, you have no shopping stress in December. If you wake up and unload the dishwasher every morning, it’s easier to keep up with dishes. If you take time to fill out a schedule with your spouse every week, you will be on the same page. If you plan pre-school snacks ahead of time and get groceries in advance, you won’t be up until midnight the night before trying to get snacks ready for the morning.
I know, I know. This sounds way over the top. But I truly think it is the secret. I also think it eliminates a lot of stress for those who do have their ducks in a row.
What kinds of systems do you use?
